SPSS means Statistical Package for the Social Sciences but has grown considerably as an analysis tool since its inception in 1968. I went to a lecture on this analysis package last week and was quite impressed because I understood it and it actually appeared to be quite a useful way of handling data! The website is a useful resource even if you do not use the package – you have to register but you will be able to access reports and guidance on things like designing a survey.

This link was provided by David Fetterman in his book Ethnography step by step 2nd Ed. (1998 London. Sage). A useful introduction to ethography. A difficult to place method /methodology as it seems to fit within most theories especially of the qualitative type. Perhaps best thought of as a method within a method as it does not really stand up as a theoretical methodology on its own.
